Open/Discussion

This group/meeting began on February 10, 1981 by Richard G. and Allen S.  The first meeting was at the library, located at the town office.  The time was at 8:00 p.m.  the early members were Billy P., Billy H., Jim R., Robbie S., Barbara D., Gary D., Paul T., Peter D., Penny P., David G., Charlene P., Richard G., and Allen S.

The group moved from the library to the elementary school, from there to the upstairs at the town office, then to the Congregational Church, over to the Veteran's Club, back upstairs to the to the town office, and to its present location at the Congregational Church. (They tried the geographical cure)

The group has an anniversary meeting for the group every year in February and this year, 2004, the group celebrated its 23rd year as a group.  We have a speakers meeting, where the beginners of the group speak of its history and challenges.  The members still with us are Richard G., who has relocated.  Others that are still active and involved in service are Peter D., Paul T., Gary D., Penny P., Billy H., and Billy P.

A BAT FROM THE PAST
At the time the group was in the library at the town office (Milbridge) and a bat flew in and everyone dove for cover under the table.  As the "oldtimers" tell it, they had a wonderful time?  Charlene P. would make homemade donuts every Monday for the meeting.

THE GUNSLINGER
There is no story to print ..., you had to be there, and a hatchet ... EASY DOES IT!!!!  The men took them outside and talked with them.

The group currently has 25-30 members and celebrates their anniversaries on the last Monday of the month, with an annual Christmas party and group anniversary.  The group holds election every six months for some positions, and annually for others.  They hold regular business meetings on the third Monday of the month, and does a group inventory annually.  The group as a whole contributes to the overall service structure and fellowship of AA.
